Kate is an accredited Intimacy Coordinator through a SAG recognised institution, with over 25 years experience in the film industry.
Working professionally as an actor since the age of 14, Kate has grown up in the industry, gaining accolades in NZ and internationally. She’d like to bring that knowledge and experience to navigate safer sets and help bring out exceptional performances during intimate content.
Kate also understands the production side of film having produced internationally successful documentaries on a global platform.
Roles of an Intimacy Coordinator
Act as a liaison between actors and production to assist with nudity riders.
Run preproduction intimacy meetings and rehearsals to facilitate consent and clear communication.
Assist directors in realising their visions safely by helping with choreography if required.
Advocate for actors during shooting, so they can focus effectively on their performances.
Manage closed sets effectively to make intimate scenes run efficiently.
Serve as an advocate for the LGBTQIA+ community to ensure representation is accurate and safety is assured.
Knowledgeable and able to follow the Sag / Aftra guidelines and help negotiate nudity riders for international productions.
Kate formally studied under Amanda Blumenthal with Intimacy Professionals Association and has been certified to work.
Kate was the recipient of a professional development grant through the New Zealand Film Commission.
